UK lighting test specialists Photometric Testing has announced its 2012 photometric training course schedule. The course has been designed and is presented by Pro-Lite’s Robert Yeo – noted for his ability to communicate complex subjects clearly. Robert has previously been awarded top marks for the quality of his teaching. The course will empower all of those working with the next generation of ultra efficient lighting to understand the important optical metrics and how to communicate clearly and effectively.

Tridonic has supplied around 3,000 dimmable DALI ballasts via Luminaire UK for use at Birmingham City Council’s new Woodcock Street office development in Aston. The ballasts are incorporated into luminaires to provide a versatile interface with the lighting management system. Comprising five floors with 22,000 sqm of office accommodation, it will house over 3,000 council workers. Sustainability is at the heart of its BREEAM Excellent design and the lighting management makes a key contribution to this.

Fashion retailer River Island chose Megaman’s LED AR111 and Crown Silver lamps for the company’s London headquarters. Offering 50,000 hours life, Megaman’s AR111 LED lamps use the company’s patented Thermal Conductive Highway™” (TCH) technology. They offer a direct replacement for halogen spots in terms of colour temperature and intensity whilst providing energy saving of up to 80%. Megaman’s LED Crown Silver, A60 shape lamps have a unique silver plated crown top with the rest of the lamp clear glass.

MID lighting have recently supplied their Poole luminaires to UCLH in London. The fully recessed circular luminaire with a spun aluminium body was chosen for it versatility. Supplied using circular T5 lamps, the fitting has options for 55W, 40W and 22W T5c lamps as well as 40W & 22W combinations within the same fitting. The emergency luminaires were supplied with a DALI emergency pack for monitoring of the emergency system and were fitted with Satin Frost diffusers.

Riegens has supplied its Cirrus pendant luminaires for the new Charles Morris Halls student accommodation at Leeds University Campus. The £21m project is being created to the highest specification, providing a benchmark that all university campus accommodation within the UK will be measured against. Riegens Cirrus pendants have been utilised in corridors within the halls of residence. The slim, circular Cirrus luminaires have a modern, clean line and are wire suspended. Cirrus offers excellent light distribution, with direct light to ceilings channeled through slots in the powder grey finish metal housing and direct accent light using 22W and 40W T5 lamps.
