Locally sourced meat from local

farmers Five family farms, one of them organic, have come together as a co-operative to sell the best locally reared meat through their own butchers shop.

Such is the quality of the meat on offer that they have won a Gold Award at the 2012 Wales True Taste Awards for a rack of lamb from Penrhiw Farm, one of the five farms in the Cig Mynydd Cymru co-op. For non-Welsh speakers Cig Mynydd Cymru means Welsh Mountain Meat and they are focused on great tasting local meat, reared to the highest welfare standards and lovingly prepared. The beef is the famous national breed, Welsh Black, or organic Aberdeen Angus and matured for three weeks on the bone to get the best flavour. We all love Welsh lamb on our Sunday dinners and in hearty stews and here you will find an award winning range of choice cuts. When you visit the shop in Treharris you’ll be dealing with experts ready to give you friendly advice on what cuts of meat suit your recipes also as befits a modern farming co- operative you can find out lots more about each of the farms on the Cig Mynydd Cymru website.
