WHAT’S ON Music Thursday 5th April

Lost Prophets Motorpoint Arena Cardiff.

There will be a mass exodus of Valleys rockers when Pontypridd’s own metal giants rock the Cardiff Motorpoint Arena in April. With a new album, said to be much darker than previous efforts, due for release in April and support from hotly tipped rock/dubstep mash up masters Modestep, Lost Prophets show they can still excite their loyal fans. Tickets from £26. www.livenation.co.uk

Saturday 28th April

Cara Dillon The Muni, Pontypridd.

A modern voice within Traditional Irish music, Cara Dillon’s golden tones have featured on everything from club hits to a Disney theme song. However, it’s in a traditional and intimate setting that she’s best appreciated – her 2010 release ‘Hill of Thieves’ was the BBC Radio 2 folk album of the year. Expect a magical evening and, if you also fancy taking in country folk legend Gretchen Peters (March 16th at the Coliseum) you can get tickets to both for a bargain £26. Tickets £17.50. Box Office 08000 147 111. www.rct-arts.co.uk

An Intimate Evening with The Unthanks The Coliseum, Aberdare.

Rhondda Fach Gala Concert with Pendyrus Male Choir

and Shan Cothi Rhondda Fach Sports Centre. They’ve been a vital part of the Rhondda Fach community since their foundation in the early 1920s, and Pendyrus Male Choir’s latest concert – they perform all over the world – with opera to musicals star Shan Cothi is in aid of Shan’s own charity which supports research into pancreatic cancer. Ferndale Community College’s choir also join in the fun. Tickets: £12. www.pendyrus.org.uk

If voices can break hearts then the sweet, Northumberland-accented harmonies of the Unthanks will leave a trail of tears on their tour – it’s unusual to find an Unthanks review that doesn’t mention the words ‘haunting’, ‘melancholy’ or ‘beautiful’. Mercury-nominated singing sisters Rachel and Becky took a diversion into larger, brass backed shows last year, but if you want your heart beautifully broken catch them on this return to playing with a smaller band in more intimate venues. Tickets: £18.50. Box Office: 08000 147 111. www.rct-arts.co.uk
