Leupold & Stevens reveals new men

to chair its board of directors, with Dr Don R Kania and Dennis Spindler being added to the board. Jim has replaced the retiring


Don Gobel, who served on the board for 16 years – the last four as chairman. During Dan’s tenure, gross


sales more than doubled and the Leupold product line became considerably more diverse, while many new markets, particularly international and military/tactical, were opened and expanded. Jim has more than 20 years


of diverse industry experience in leadership roles for small and large corporations, with a strong brand focus in the outdoor recreation market. He has served on the Leupold & Stevens board of directors since 2007. Don has joined the board to


fi ll the position vacated by Jim’s appointment, while Dennis comes to Leupold after retiring from a distinguished career at Big Rock Sports with a vast

Sig loses Dutch police contract


An order of Sig Sauer P250 pistols placed by the Dutch Ministry of Security and Justice has been cancelled. T e new pistol had originally been selected after trials with other


leading pistol brands, including Glock, Heckler & Koch and Smith & Wesson. T e reason given questions the reliability of the production pistol,


with consequent concern for offi cer safety. Sig Sauer had earlier raised concerns over aspects of the trials and


the whole selection process is currently coming under scrutiny. It has become a topic for much debate, with claims of problems


within the process that indicate the playing fi eld is not as level as some would like. Other key players have also registered their dismay at various aspects


of the trials. It now appears that some areas of the procedure may become subject


of a legal challenge and so deciding which maker gets the order for the pistols could be complex, meaning the fi nal outcome remains some way off .
