The fi rst-ever 30in barrelled break- open muzzleloader.

World first for Vortek

Traditions Performance Firearms has introduced the new Vortek Ultralight LDR – the only 30in-barrelled break-open muzzleloader on the market. T e LDR is said to off er better

consistency, increased velocity and improved down-range accuracy. Despite a longer barrel,

Traditions has kept the gun light with the LDR weighing in at 6.8lb. It was designed to improve those long-distance shots, while keeping the gun lightweight and maintaining balance and accuracy. T e gun comes with a range

of features, including an ultra- light chromoly-tapered and fl uted barrel. Chromoly has

long been recognised as the best barrel material for strength and accuracy. It also reduces the barrel’s weight by more than 1lb. Coupled with an LT-1 alloy

frame, the Vortek Ultralight LDR is built to travel and easy to carry. T ere’s also a Premium

CeraKote Finish for corrosion resistance, a drop-out trigger, Traditions’ Accelerator Breech Plug and the company’s Dual Safety System. It is available in many

confi gurations.

Shock changes at BSA Guns

After only six months away, Simon Moore has returned as managing director at BSA Guns UK. He returns following the departure of previous incumbent Martin

Lowe, who only joined the Birmingham-based airgun manufacturer last September. T e day he returned to his old desk, Simon told Gun Trade World:

“I’ve been brought back into the business to continue with the signifi cant progress made during my fi rst two years with the company. “My primary focus will be on quality and delivery as well as an

exciting new product-development programme. “I’m delighted to have the opportunity to once again lead this iconic

brand.” During his initial time in charge, Simon oversaw the remodelling of

the Ultra stock, the re-engineering of the BSA multi-shot magazine and the successful introductions of the R10 Mk 2, along with the highly acclaimed Scorpion SE. Simon – who has an extensive engineering background – added: “I

have received some personal assurance regarding product development and future investment to build upon my early successes. I am very excited about our future.” Simon also discussed recent suggestions that a return to

Birmingham of BSA spring guns is imminent. He commented: “I rule nothing in nor out at this stage. However,

the strategic direction of BSA as a brand is under review. “Birmingham is the group’s centre of excellence for PCP (pre-

charged pneumatic airgun) design and manufacture – and will remain so – as well as a major design authority and provider of engineering knowledge on the group’s spring guns. “Manufacturing location is not important; technical expertise and

heritage is the key. No decision has been made on the issue at this time.”
