Ship of the year. The offshore support vessel North Sea Giant was awarded “Ship of the Year 2012” by the Offshore Support Vessels Conference in London in February. Other contenders were Esnaad 711 & 712, MPI Adventure & Saipem FDS 2. The 161m North Sea Giant is DP3 and is powered by six main engines of 3,500kW each driving a gen set. Propulsion is by five Voith Schneider propellors and one tunnell thruster.
