Offshore Oil & Gas EAs We are approaching the final year of all existing offshore oil and gas agreements; they all have a nominal expiry date of 31 July 2013. In July this year we will begin the process of building our log of claims, we would hope to kick off discussions with employers early in 2013. Whilst there is no barrier to beginning early talks about the new agreement members need to be aware that protected industrial action is only allowable after the existing agreement has reached nominal expiry – 31 July 2013 – and a range of other legislative requirements have been met. With the oil patch experiencing unprecedented growth no doubt members’ expectations will be high. There are also a number of issues already on our agenda, such as winch driving, which no doubt will engender robust debate; expect resistance. Members should ensure their contact details are all up to date on our database especially emails. If you can


successfully login to the member’s page on our www then your details are correct. Please also establish an email contact with your vessel and AIMPE and regularly check its validity. We will soon be in touch with all offshore members to advise you of how you can be a part of this process; building the log-of-claims, participating in the negotiations and so on. Farstad sells two. Farstad Shipping ASA has, through its wholly owned subsidiary P/R International Offshore Services ANS, reached an agreement to sell the two oldest AHTS in our fleet, the AHTS Lady Audrey (1983, ME 303, 12.240 BHP) and the AHTS Lady Valisia (1983, ME 303, 12.240 BHP) pictures below. Delivery of the vessels to the new owner is expected to take place within the end of March 2012. Sale

Draft Revised Code on Noise Levels on Board ships agreed The draft revised Code on noise levels on board ships was agreed by the Sub-Committee, for submission to the MSC for approval. The Code, which sets out mandatory noise level limits for machinery spaces, control rooms, workshops, accommodation and other spaces on board ships, updates and revises the previous version published in 1973 (resolution A.468(XII)). A related draft new SOLAS regulation II-1/3 12 was also agreed, to require new ships to be constructed to reduce onboard noise and to protect personnel from the noise, in accordance with the Code.
