River Boyne and Embley: GT 51,035 and DWT 76,358


RTM ships: GT 53,988 and DWT 90,338 RTM COOK:

The Wakmatha (commissioned in August 2007) is managed by ASP Ship Management and Weipa (commissioned August 2008) is managed by Anglo Eastern but crewed by Teekay.


The remaining vessels PIIRAMU (April 2008); TWARRA (April 2009) and GLADSTONE (October 2009) are managed and crewed by Anglo Eastern Co. In addition Rio Tinto has a new build in sea trials the RTM COOK which is double the size of the RTM and River ships. This vessel will be too large for the Weipa to


The difference in cargo has been approximately 10,000 tonne of bauxite due to restrictions on under keel clearance at out of Weipa and round the Cape. Currently 57% of the tonnage is Australian manned on the bauxite trade which will be reduced to 40% after the Boyne and Embley depart.


Days of Steam Gone


Many members would have had experience on the coal burners that plied the Weipa to Gladstone route on the Endeavour River (gone 2009), Fitzroy River (gone 2010) and the Boyne and Embley. All four vessels were coal fired with the Endeavour and Fitzroy being Italian and the Boyne and Embley built in Japan. All 4
