Donkey trekkers raise money for DSAA
Do you love the countryside? Do you also love donkeys? Seems a silly question but the reason we ask is because Chris Brancher and his team have created a unique donkey trekking experience in the UK. What’s more, the donkeys are helping Chris to raise funds for us! During the three Saturdays prior to Christmas,
and for two and a half hours each time, Chris set out with pack donkeys, Hector and Paris, into the town of Beaminster. Accompanying them was his son- in-law Luke and two donkey lovers, Rosie and Alisia. Thanks to the generosity of the Beaminster locals and visitors to the town that day, they collected £394.27 for the Charity. “We were thrilled that so many people gave
generously in support of the wonderful work that the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance does,” Chris explains. “Our donkey experience is unique and gives people
the chance to create a special bond with them. You can pick your donkey, brush them and walk with them for the day, even stopping for a pub lunch along the way. “We enjoyed the fundraising experience so much
that we are now giving each of our donkeys their own collection box in support of the air ambulance and hope to raise much, much more,” he concludes. For more information on the Donkey Walking Treks, visit:

Lee Baker was born on the 20 May 1981 and sadly lost his life to a motorbike accident on 8 November 2010. Lee had been a
keen charity supporter, regularly helping to raise money for good causes. After his tragic death, members of his family and close friends decided to organise an annual event in his memory. The event called RITS (Riders in
the Sky) saw hundreds of riders gather at Tor Leisure Centre in Glastonbury to raise funds for the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance. Michael Eavis was on hand,
waving a fl ag to send the bikers on their way, while the sports
Vine Inn goes conkers for air ambulance
A big thank you goes out to Linda Sweatland, landlady of the Vine Inn, near Wimborne, for her continued support. Fundraising in aid of the Charity during 2011 was once again a huge success. The annual Conker and Pumpkin Day saw beautiful weather and drew in one of the biggest
crowds yet, with prizes awarded for the heaviest pumpkin and the winning conker.
Linda, along with pub
regulars, was delighted to present a cheque to Annette Plaistow-Trapaud, DSAA Fundraising Co-ordinator, for a whopping £3,215.

centre staff and volunteers made their preparations for a fun day, with live music, a hog roast, Martin Jessop (BSB Rider), a children’s circus, a darts competition, an auction, a
raffl e and lots more. The event was a huge success and fantastically well attended. Two weeks after the event, Ben
Harman boosted the cash raised by taking to his KTM350 bike and performing an incredible Evel Knievel stunt, jumping 95ft over the river Brue. A staggering £9,018.45 was raised and presented at our airbase in Henstridge. Planning for this year’s event is already underway. It will be held at the same venue on 20 May 2012.
