WHAT IS THE PSQ (PRODUCT SAFETY AND QUALITY) COMMITTEE?

Following the announcement by Adrian Hawkins, AWD chairman at the 2011 AWD conference in April 2011, a PSQ Commiee has now been formed with an agreed format for its role and acvies. The PSQ Commiee will look into product safety and quality concerns that the market wishes to raise with the commiee

THIS REMIT FALLS INTO TWO AREAS: 

Product safety and quality maers With any product concern brought to the aenon of the PSQ commiee, it isn’t our intenon to regulate the welding product market but to invesgate and understand the issues and if the commiee believes it is jusfied, they will alert the manufacture/supplier and furthermore negoate a way forward for the benefit of all. Should this fail, we will alert the AWD membership and look at other ways to isolate non compliant and unsafe products in the UK market.

Buyer’s Guides

The commiee also intends to develop a series of booklets on welding associated products, enabling customers to understand current standards and legislaon applied to machines, gas equipment, consumables and personal protecon equipment. It is hoped these will provide some essenal knowledge when selecng and purchasing industrial products.

If you have a comment or concern about any welding related product to make to this commiee, contact in the first instance should be through: psq@awd.org.uk
