North Lincolnshire pedals the Olympic spirit

D

uring summer 2012 a very special event will take place. As the Olympic torch passes along the country in preparation for the games, North Lincolnshire’s towns

and villages will celebrate with a range of activities. The Cultural Olympiad aims to create stronger links between sports, culture and the arts, reflecting the spirit of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Cultural Olympiad

activities in the area (see below) will have a cycling theme because of its strong history of cycle manufacture. The area’s only Olympic medallist – Lal White – was also a cyclist. To celebrate the

Olympics, the council also plans events across the

area to encourage all ages to engage in sport and play, even some they have never thought about trying before. Some events may be organised as Village Games Opportunities to simulate the excitement and competition of the Olympics. Find out more at www.northlincs.gov.uk/ sports
