FOCUS on RACKS AND CABINETS

INTEGRATED TECHNOLOGIES

the DataCenterinaRow brand, claims it can deliver a fully functioning data center consisting of cabinets to the following spec: Standard 42u Nema 1X, enclosed racks are provided with base system 47u. Available, rack measures 24”W X, 47.5”D X 78” H. The base system consists of three cabinets with option for additional cabinets.

The integrated technologies available with these systems include utility power distribution, uninterruptible power supply (UPS) power distribution (for remote UPS), fire detection, fire suppression, power monitoring – UPS, utility and branch circuits. Environmental monitoring, including rack discharge, temperatures and cooling, system status and operation can also be integrated.

rack configuration with integrated power, cooling, infrastructure management and fire suppression. SmartRow is integrated infrastructure included in a rapid- deployment enclosure. It can be used to supplement existing data center capacity or can be deployed as a standalone, remote data center or disaster recovery site.

Airedale’s OnRak is a compact rear door heat exchanger IT cooling solution designed to manage discharge temperatures from the server into the aisle space dealing with the heat load closer to the source. Enhanced by smart control logic and EC fan technology, the OnRak has energy efficiency ratios (EER) of 108 (n); 174 (n+1).

If you already have your racks in place or if you prefer not to opt

for a one stop shop and want to take the best of breed approach then there are no shortage of

components from which you can build your own bespoke integrated rack or cabinet solution.

Liebert, part of Emerson, manufactures XDF, a self-contained air-cooled cabinet system for high heat density cooling up to 14 kW. A digital scroll compressor adjusts cooling level to match IT load.

The XDF enclosure provides 36U of usable rack space. XDF exhausts the heat from the electronic equipment through the condenser fan at the top or to an outdoor condensing unit. Other functions include integrated high density cooling with horizontal air flow and automatic back-up ventilation.

Another standalone solution came from the same stable with the announcement in March of SmartRow a standalone data center infrastructure that supports up to 20kW of IT equipment in an enclosed, multi-

According to the company, over a year, an OnRak with an EER of 144 will achieve 88% saving in power input compared with a traditional close control unit with the same capacity. Multiple OnRak units can be linked with an Airedale large capacity air cooled chiller using AireTronix controls technology. Substantial energy savings are achieved when the OnRak is matched with a free- cooling chiller.

Rittal’s integrated play is an overall concept. “Rittal - The System” offers support for the active and passive side of a data centre with five modules: Rack, Power, Cooling, Security and Monitoring and Remote Management. “Rittal - The System” provides the key elements to support the necessary environment to maintain operation of the system, whether for server room or data centre, high or highest availability, the separate modules can be adapted to individual changes in demand. At the heart of the rack-optimised design, the widely proven TS 8 server enclosure platform offers maximum rack volumes, scalable baying options, optimum surface protection, extreme stability and endless expansion possibilities, the company says.

products to its portfolio. These included High amperage (208V, 3-phase, 50A or 60A) smart power monitors for storage arrays. New basic and metered 3-Phase CDUs with circuit breakers for branch circuit protection. It claims the first 208V 50/60A basic and metered CDUs for high density applications.

New horizontal and vertical CDUs with NEMA (National Electrical Manufacturers Association) single phase and 3-Phase twist- lock receptacles. New 3-Phase high power CDUs with C19 outlets to support blade deployments in data center pods. The first 48-outlet Switched CDU powered from a single 208V 3-phase 50/60 amp power input feed, integration of Server Technology’s high-accuracy Per Input Power Sensing (PIPSTM) technology into Smart 24, 36 and 48 outlet CDUs. And a new Switched high density, high power CDU designed for data center lab environments.
