FOCUS: How does it work? We mitigate vibration generated internally to servers by fans, the hard drive itself or externally coming to the server by outside racks, servers, air conditioning, power supply etc. If you’ve been to a data center the whole place buzzes.


Vibration causes latency in hard drive performance. Basically, going from one point on the hard drive platter to another takes longer and finding he data takes longer when you have vibration. What we are doing is dissipating vibration passively, allowing the


hard drive to work the best way it can. We have an example, using a 2U storage unit sitting in our prototype antivibration rack. We have used the slide rail kit industry standard to install this. The storage rack is held in four corners by our special carbon fiber antivibration rack which acts as a filter to absorb and dissipate vibration internally generated coming out, or externally coming in to the server.


Any storage unit that is installed in a metal rack can be installed in our rack and benefit from a very quiet environment that eliminates vibration and increases hard drive storage performance. n


How many container racks?


You would think that containers would be fi tted as standard – but they are not.


How many racks can be fitted into a container? This is no one answer to this. Depending on your preferences buying a standard container offers a wide choice. When speaking with one supplier they told us that there is a high degree of customisation available but just understanding how many racks and how many U can be squeezed into each container is a good place to start.
