The latest development in the Trellis project was the rollout of the hardware appliance.
The Universal Management Gateway, an appliance by Avocent – Emerson’s DCIM arm – is integral to the company’s DCIM platform, Trellis, Emerson said.
Combined with Trellis, the device will provide real-time IT and infrastructure monitoring and control capabilities.
Avocent president Steve Hassell said the appliance’s role will be key in the Trellis platform, leveraging Emerson’s hardware, software and services expertise to enable more efficient data center management.
“This device integrates capabilities delivered traditionally through multiple disparate IT and facilities devices into a single product that delivers dramatically enhanced
functionality, along with reduced space utilization,” Hassell said.
Avocent expects the appliance to become available in February 2012.
