INTRODUCINGOURNEW STAFF This week we are introducing Leonie van der Spek
Leonie van der Spek Music Teacher
I'm Leonie van der Spek, otherwise known as Miss V. I come from a big, noisy Dutch family - in my immediate family there is seven of us including nephews and nieces, and then another 22 aunties and uncles and somewhere around 40 cousins and 40 second cousins, and we're pretty close although we're spread all over the world.
I love music, which is great since that's what I'm teaching, but I also love all sports and can be seen during footy season in my Geelong gear. I also compete at a national level for gymnastic cheer, and coach as well, just to keep myself busy.
I also love travelling, and have been to many
places around the world, my favourite probably being somewhere in East Europe - Prague, Vienna, Budapest...
A lot of my holidays are spent at CYC holiday camps (Christian Youth Camps) leading and directing junior and teen camps, which are amazing fun but also really impacting for Christ.
I'm looking forward to this year, especially the production of Seussical later this year, and working with some very talented students, and some that just like being noisy, which works for me just fine.
I'm looking forward to seeing how God moves this year and am extremely blessed to have a job in a school that wants students to grow in their faith just as much as in their education.
ntinued Two weeks ago 40 Year 7’s (and 4 brave teachers) headed to Forest Edge campsite in Neerim East for 3 days packed with physical exertion, bonding and plenty of fun experiences.
We got to challenge ourselves with adventure activities including archery, flying fox, cross-country bike rides and a high ropes course. We also gave our minds a workout as we built huts in the forest, aimed for the best angles in mini-golf and worked together in team challenges. There were some tight cricket and basketball contests, cool tricks performed on trampolines and an epic capture-the-flag session too. Amongst this there was plenty of time for relaxing, hanging out, movie
viewing and (late night) talking as we cemented our friendships and worked to develop a strong, supportive community that will benefit us for the rest of Year 7 and beyond.
Special thanks to Mrs Cloete, Mrs Seed and Mr Idrees for their wonderful efforts. Mr Goodluck - Yr7 Teacher
