While finishing their season as the number two seed in NHIAA Division III Hockey with a record of 16-1, the seniors had a bittersweet moment. It was their last regular season game at Skate 3, Alvirne’s home ice. The Broncos played Somerworth on their Senior Night on February 22. Alvirne won the game 4-3. On Saturday the team defeated Kearsarge Regional on the road, 3-0, bringing their amazing season to an end.
NHIAA playoffs opened for the Broncos at Skate 3 on Saturday, March 3 with a 1:30 p.m. game against John Stark-Hopkinton. The team, seeded number 10 in NHIAA playoffs with Reed Vandergraaf scoring a hat trick on the afternoon. Vandergraaf scored the first Bronco goal, followed by Trevor Perron from Captain Ryan Bellerose. It was 0-2. The Broncos brought the second period to life with an 18-8 shot advantage, while Bronco senior goal tender Brian Carpentier was on his way to a 24 save game. Cam Brock scored a short-handed goal near the end of period two.

FITNESS ON DEMAND IS HERE!!! PAC Drops Hockey Playoff Opener to Generals
by Marc Ayotte The Pembroke Academy-Campbell (PAC) hockey team finished their season on a down note on Thursday, March 1, when they dropped their preliminary round playoff game to John Stark, by a score of 6-3. The game, which ended up being played at the Ice Den, was originally scheduled to be played at the Tri-City Arena where PAC calls home. But a snow cancellation caused the rescheduling, resulting in Pembroke-Campbell losing the home ice advantage they had earned for finishing in seventh place during the regular season. However, according to head coach Marc Noel, there was absolutely no issue with the venue change, as he not only commended the facility for its cleanliness and good ice surface, but also admitted that his team was familiar with the facility, having practiced there on occasion.

their hockey talent to formulate a single cohesive entry into NH division III hockey. Trailing 2-0 after the first period of action, the PAC squad battled back with three middle period goals to take a 3-2 lead as the Zamboni made its second appearance of the evening. Cade Lacroix scored his team-leading 24th goal of the season, on an assist from Jonathan Donaghey, and junior Marcus Bessette hit the back of the net for the other two PAC goals. The season came crashing down with just two minutes left in regulation. Still tied at two apiece, the Generals proceeded to score three times in the waning moments, including an empty netter, to pull-off the upset. Despite the discouraging conclusion to the season, Noel said he was happy with his team’s improvement over last year. Noel, who has coached Pembroke/ PAC hockey for seven out of the past eight years, noted the performances of Lacroix, Bessette, Nicholas Christino and Mike White as highlights on the season. In noting that forward Jonathan Donaghey joined the team late due to personal reasons, Noel said of his freshman “he’s a player”; expecting a lot from him as well as goalie Ryan McGowan next year. One of the four seniors PAC will lose to graduation is Aaron
Repole. Aaron was “our defensive staple” acknowledged Noel, adding “we relied on him a lot.” The PAC coach looking ahead to next season hopes that junior Dan Sanders will step up as a senior to anchor the defense in Repole’s absence. Statistically on the season, Lacroix led PAC with 23 regular season goals, followed by Christino with 15, Bessette with 11 and White with 10. In the assist category, Christino led the team with 18 for a total of 33 points on the season, second only to Lacroix whose 16 helpers gave him 39 total points. Also recording double digit assists on the year were Michael White with 14 and Aaron Repole with 13.
