Online Parts Ordering, Reference Material Key to Completing Vehicle Diagnostics

research and even place orders for school bus parts has become as vital as the actual preventative maintenance schedule. In fact, the two go hand-in-hand. School Transportation News


approached the various


school bus manufacturers to gauge what they offer in terms of online parts and inventory solutions as well as vehicle reference material for dealers and customers. IC Bus offers its OnCommand Service Information, the


rebranded Bus ISIS. Matt Crump, a customer service marketing specialist at Navistar, said the end user simply types in the VIN and the system shows all service info for that particular bus chassis, body and engine. Click on a link and find all major components of that vehicle and see related item numbers and cross-reference numbers, then place an order for those parts that are fulfilled by the local dealer. OnCommand also works in conjuction with Navistar’s Fleet

information based on VIN that date back to 1995, and another area houses information as far back as 1980. Te Tomas solution also offers a reference manual as well as a module listing for vehicle registration and warranty info. A key feature of the Saf-T-Liner C2 reference manual, for


example, is a keyword look up that displays a photo of the part, and an option number gives customers a module that lists options available by model. Another feature under the
