Mother’s Day
“You don’t need to go far to find good Mother’s Day packages”
Chewton Glen in the New Forest makes the perfect short-break destination
Get into the ‘Spirit of Summer’
along the way. Booking is essential (£3 for adults, children free, call 0844 249 1895). If your Mother’s Day weekend is
already booked up and you’d rather treat your mum at a later date, Ladies who Love… Events has the answer. Pick a trip for you and your mum to enjoy together, and this Salisbury-based company will plan the day, sorting out your tickets and transport for you. Forthcoming days out include visits to House & Garden’s Spirit of Summer Fair in London, Royal Ascot and the Hampton Court Flower Show. •

Get away Whisk your mum away for a weekend, or take the whole family away if you want to mark Mother’s Day in style. You don’t need to travel far to find good Mother’s Day packages, with many local hotels offering deals alongside their lunch and dinner menus. One of our favourites is The Beckford Arms in Fonthill Gifford. Just a short drive from Salisbury, you can enjoy a great deal here for Mother’s Day weekend, with a two-course lunch, a night’s stay in a small double, with breakfast the next day and two of the Beckford’s handmade Bramley pampering products, all for £155 (based on two adults sharing). And if you want to keep things more low- key, you can always just pop in to toast your ma with a classic ‘Beckford Bellini’ cocktail instead. If you want to get a little further afield, springtime in the New Forest is always a joy. Try Chewton Glen in New Milton, where you can enjoy all the trimmings of an extensive afternoon tea buffet (£32.50) and take advantage of a special event rate for an overnight stay (from £239 per person, including breakfast and use of the spa and leisure facilities).
Head to The Beckford Arms for food, or even an overnighter
Not all mums want to take in the joys
of the countryside, and if yours favours bright lights and boutiques, a city break makes the ideal solution for a girls’ getaway. See page 62 to get well-and-truly inspired by a Mother-Daughter trip to the big smoke in our latest travel feature. •
