New Hybrid Petrolatum blends
Calumet Penreco LLC has launched four new hybrid Petrolatum products. The new hybrid Petrolatums combine Snow White Petrolatum USP with one of the following 4 natural oils: Macadamia Nut Oil, Avocado Oil, Safflower Oil and Olive Oil. These new hybrid Petrolatums allow formulators to incorporate higher percentages of renewable resources, while maintaining the beneficial properties of the Snow White Petroleum. The key attributes of these innovative new hybrid blends include moisturisation and skin barrier protection and repair. Their rich feel and added smoothness make these blends especially suitable for skin care
formulations. Potential applications include: skin care, lip care, sun care, hair care, ointments, bar soaps and bath products. “We recognised that consumers ask for products that are natural or naturally derived but above all are effective; however, overall efficacy
appears to be an issue with natural products. It is well documented that the moisturisation petrolatum brings to the table is unsurpassed by any (natural or otherwise) product. Now with the new Calumet

Symrise launches PEG-free solubiliser Interesting technologies for natural cosmetics
Symrise has launched a new PEG-free solubiliser called SymSol®
PF-3.
PF-3 can be used to solubilise lipophilic substances such as perfume, essential oils, actives and vitamins in pure aqueous and aqueous alcoholic formulations. The main areas of application are hair and body care as well as gels, wet wipes, after shaves and fragrances. SymSol®
SymSol®
PF-3 is more than just a PEG-free solubiliser. It allows a clear solution of oil soluble substances, and as a liquid product it is easy to handle because it is cold processable. It is colourless and clearly soluble in water, does not exert influence on colour and odour in final formulations, and leaves a pleasant skin feel. Moreover SymSol®
PF-3 can be used as emulsifier or co-emulsifier
in O/W formulations. Compared to its benchmark PEG-containing products,
SymSol®
PF-3 shows excellent solubilising performance. It also excels against other PEG-free solubilisers in cost efficiency, colour and odour. It is very effective and is recommended to be used up to levels of 5% in rinse-off products and up to 3% in leave-on products.

Sisterna is introducing new formulation concepts with sucrose esters based on new technologies: • Concentrated emulsion technology for gel-to- milk concepts - A simple manufacturing technique allows the production of oil gels that turn into milk when diluted upon use, such as a make-up cleansing gel or fruit scrub. In case of immediate dilution during production, this technology provides very stable thin liquid emulsions suitable for natural wipe and spray applications, such as baby wipes and sun spray formulations.
• Aerated mousse technology - Sisterna’s extensive experience of using sucrose esters in food mousses, where they provide aeration and firmness to the mousse, resulted in the development of a real cosmetic mousse with a light texture and excellent skin feel.
