THE POWER OF PARTNERING WITH DUPAGE
CONVENTION & VISITORS BUREAU
Travel and tourism is a multi-billion dollar industry and an important economic engine for DuPage County, with the DuPage Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) being a key driver.
A not-for-profit partner-based organization, the DuPage CVB has served as the only destination marketing organization certified by the State of Illinois to represent the travel and tourism industry in DuPage County for over 20 years.
We are an official point of contact for convention, event and meeting planners, tour operators and leisure visitors. We assist planners with meeting preparation and encourage business and leisure travelers to visit local attractions, shop at our retail establishments, enjoy our recreational opportunities, dine in our restaurants and stay in our hotels.
Our experienced sales and convention services staff continually works to promote DuPage County as a premier destination for conventions, meetings, motorcoach tours, reunions and sports events. We represent our partners at tradeshows, association events and industry meetings, and we coordinate familiarization (FAM) tours and site inspections to showcase DuPage County to qualified meeting and event planners.
Our team of marketing professionals produces and distributes award-winning print and electronic promotional campaigns and collateral materials and develops advertising, multimedia promotions and public relations strategies that help brand and promote DuPage County to business and leisure travelers. We also coordinate networking events and other partner programs.
It would be impossible for each individual hotel, restaurant, attraction or community to provide on their own the amount of exposure, direct sales, integrated advertising and dynamic promotions we provide with and for our partners.
The DuPage CVB is a one-stop shop for unbiased information about our county’s services and facilities, providing a full range of information about DuPage County at no cost to the traveler or planner. To do this, we depend on funding from the state, county, communities and our local partners.
MUNICIPAL PARTNER BENEFITS
Since all DuPage County communities benefit economically from the tourism industry and our marketing efforts, our new partnership model focuses heavily on retaining and growing financial support from municipalities. Any municipality that lies at least partially in DuPage County is eligible to partner with us.
For a fee of 25% of 1% of the occupancy tax percentage points collected from the previous year OR for a flat fee for communities with no hotels, your municipality will obtain a full partnership with the DuPage Convention & Visitors Bureau and be eligible to take advantage of the following benefits.
Affiliations & Memberships
The DuPage CVB acts as your official liaison with the Illinois Office of Tourism (IOT). We also represent you through memberships and affiliations with a variety of tourism and trade organizations. Staff members actively participate on committees and boards to help support our county’s and partners’ interests. You save the time and expense of joining these organizations, while still receiving benefits from our involvement.
Sales Initiatives & Convention Services
Our professional sales team provides a number of opportunities for our municipal partners to gain exposure and traffic for their area businesses. DuPage CVB:
▪ Matches our municipal partners’ venues and suppliers with planners for their meetings, events
and conventions, then generates targeted leads and business opportunities, which, when booked, result in tax dollars for YOUR community.
▪ Spotlights municipal partners’ businesses during familiarization (FAM) trips and site visits.
▪ Includes relevant partner businesses on direct sales trips to targeted regions.
▪ Represents and/or includes municipal partners’ businesses at tradeshows and conferences.
▪ Hosts special by-invitation-only events throughout the year to introduce planners to our partner businesses
and communities.
▪ Provides right-of-first-refusal opportunities to supporting community businesses to respond to leads
from planners, participate in Planner Familiarization (FAM) Tours and bid for booth-share opportunities at industry trade shows we attend.
▪ Includes promotional materials in welcome packets for convention and meeting attendees that promote our
partner communities.
