FOCUS on POWER
RIELLO UPS PRODUCTS
Riello UPS redeveloped its Multi Sentry 100kVA UPS to make it more competitive. Ideal for server rooms and other data center applications, the product was redesigned to fit into the existing 60-80kVA cabinet size, offering greater compactness.
The Multi Sentry 100kVA product frees up valuable floor space and produces less decibel noise. It is 40% lighter than the previous design, making it one of the most efficient systems on the market.
Riello’s Multi Sentry range, from 10-120kVA
achieves exceptional performance with a small footprint of 0.42 sq m, freeing up valuable floor space. Multi Sentry also has a range of advanced battery optimization features, extending the average working life of a battery set and reducing lifetime management costs.
IN THE DATA CENTER
Data center running costs are increasing, and more companies are looking at ways to address this. For example, in 2011 the UK Government set out a strategy to scale back the approximate 8,000 data centers used in the public sector and reduce their running costs by 35% over five years. The Multi Sentry range was developed to address this.
It can also provide up to a 50% saving in energy usage per annum when compared with a traditional UPS.
Sudlows, a UK-based data center specialist that works with a diverse range of clients, would take clients to a recently completed data center to demonstrate capabilities, but this presented multiple issues and restrictions. Sudlows had little or no quality control over site visits, so built its own facility.
It completed its own demonstration data center last year. The showroom allows clients to experience state-of-the-art product application and innovation in a functioning data room featuring the latest technology.
Sudlows chose the 100kVA Multi Plus to illustrate the typical footprint of a UPS in line with its focus on energy efficiency. The system provides eight minutes of protection when at full load. With Sudlows’ usual power requirements using only 20%, Multi Plus would protect the business for 40 minutes.
