BEST OF

THE BEST Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge, L’Oréal True Match and M.A.C. Lipsticks were among the products honored in the InStyle Best Beauty Buys Awards 2012. The three coveted products also made it into InStyle’s Hall of Fame, which honours products that have won their categories for three consecutive years. Over 100 products were voted Best Beauty Buys in the ceremony, which was presented by TV presenter Caroline Flack (pictured above with InStyle editor Eilidh MacAskill). This year the awards included new categories such as Best Cult Fragrance, won by Chanel No5 EdP; Best New Gadget, won by the Clarisonic Mia; and Best New Launch, for which Tom Ford Cosmetics took the gong. Also new this year was sponsor John Lewis’ own Ultimate Beauty Icon Award, for which 1000 John Lewis customers voted Dior Diorshadow Mascara the winner. Eilidh MacAskill says: “The winning products make the grade purely because they deliver. It’s no wonder our readers keep the InStyle Best Beauty Buys supplement all year round.” This year the magazine launched its first Best Beauty Buys app, which showcases the winning products and allows users to purchase more than 50 of them through the John Lewis website.

BARE CONFIDENCE

bareMinerals has announced it is to sponsor the inaugural Body Confidence Awards, taking place at London’s Houses of Parliament. The awards are part of MP Jo Swinson’s campaign to highlight the importance of body confidence in the UK. The aim of the Awards is to recognise brands and people that promote body confidence and positive images without the use of exaggerated or Photoshopped images. bareMinerals is sponsoring the event with its Be a Force of Beauty Campaign, which was previously highlighted by MP Jo Swinson as a leading example of how to send out positive messages through advertising. The stars of the campaign were identified through a blind casting, and represent bareMinerals’ strong opinion that beauty shouldn’t be manufactured. Swinson says: “bareMinerals’ new advertising campaign, Be A Force Of Beauty, doesn’t only shun retouching, but celebrates women’s ambition and achievement, showing that beauty is about much more than just looks.”
