Giorgio Armani Rouge d’Armani Sheers offer the vividness of a lipstick with the translucency of a gloss and the comfort of

a lip balm. This new lipstick hybrid is formulated with a cutting edge colour formulation process: the Color Shine Moisture Polymer, which is able to retain twice its volume of water and enhance colour luminosity while locking in hydration on the lip surface for up to eight hours. The formula’s translucent base (as opposed to a traditional opaque base) intensifies colour without having to add the traditional pearls, resulting in a creamy, feather-light texture that offers the hydration of a balm with brilliant, bold and wearable colour. Available exclusively at Selfridges from 8 March and nationwide from April. Rsp £23, Giorgio Armani Beauty, www.giorgioarmanibeauty.co.uk.

No matter how much I practice I can’t seem to get the hang of liquid eyeliner – how can I master the art of applying it? I am a big fan of liquid liner as it gives a very crisp, defined line, compared to a pencil which gives a lighter, more smudged effect. There are also some great liners on the market at the moment, including pens which look and work exactly like felt tips for easier application. Think of the top lash line in three sections. Start from the inner corner and follow your lash line, stopping after a centimetre or so. Then carry on the line over the centre part of the lash line. Have another break. Finish off the line on the outer part of the lash line and stop where your lashes stop. Check the eye and if there are any obvious bumps in the line, go over them again with the liner to smooth them out. Once you get really confident, you can start creating a small flick at the end; follow the angle of your lower lash line after you have lined the top part of your eye. Take the flick up about 4mm, making sure you don’t take it into your eye fold- the most common mistake people make. To set, dip a clean eye liner brush into a matching eyeshadow colour and carefully smudge it over the liquid liner.
