Zoe Rahman Quartet March 3, 8pm Wiltshire Music Centre, Bradford-on-Avon Mercury-nominated jazz pianist Zoe Rahman makes a very welcome return following the outstanding concert here with Courtney Pine last spring. This acoustic tour, with her brother Idris and regular jazz trio partners, marks the release of her latest album Kindred Spirits, featuring powerful and fresh music portraying her combined English, Irish and Bengali heritage. Music Group March 4, 7:30pm Wiltshire Music Centre, Bradford-on-Avon Wiltshire Music Centre is delighted to be selected as the venue to showcase BCMG’s Chamber Players as part of the BBC-devised Music Nation, a weekend of concerts to celebrate the best of the UK’s live orchestral music. Music Nation is a countdown event to the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad Festival. In a programme full of contrast and offering an embarrassement of riches, six of BCMG’s brilliant musicians perform superbly crafted pieces from the last 30 years. Some are tiny, others more substantial and many pay tribute to music of the past. Stockhausen’s Tierkreis is inspired by signs of the Zodiac and Aldo Clementi’s Berceuse is performed as a tribute; to the last of the great Italian 20th century modernists, who died almost a year ago to the day in March 2011.
