Accommodation application process
1 Accommodation applications and subsequent accommodation offers are an on line process. On our website, click ‘Apply for Accommodation’ to create an application and complete the on line process, after which you will receive an automated email acknowledgement. If you are not eligible, e.g. studying at an Associated College, you will not be able to apply.
2 At this stage a Provisional Offer of accommodation is not necessarily sent immediately. There are two reasons for this:
(i) We commence sending formal accommodation offer letters for session 2012/13 from May 2012, irrespective of how early an accommodation application form is submitted. (see point 4* below).
(ii) If your offer of a course place at the University is dependent on the outcome of exam results, you will not receive your formal offer of accommodation until this is known, e.g. a UK students awaiting results of ‘A’ levels, will not hear until the week following notification of results. (see point 3).
3 Your application will be held on system until Residential Allocations have received confirmation, via the University Admissions Service, that you have
been offered, and confirmed your acceptance of, an Unconditional Offer of a place to study at the University of Hertfordshire. A Provisional Offer of accommodation cannot be made by Residential Allocations until such confirmation has been received.
4 When an offer of accommodation is made, a Schedule of Accommodation and Terms and Conditions will be sent to you electronically. This will show the address to which you have been provisionally allocated and the cost. You have seven days in which to accept the offer of accommodation, otherwise the provisional booking will automatically lapse and the room offered to another student. To accept the offer, you will be required to electronically sign the Contract Terms and Conditions, make a current payment of the £400 deposit by credit or debit card and complete the payment plan, providing details of method of payment for the accommodation charges. Payments are by credit/debit card. You have the option to pay termly, monthly or in full, but the payment details must be completed when accepting the accommodation offer.
5 On completion of acceptance of the offer, the booking is made Firm. You will need to complete on line induction prior to your arrival.
*Accommodation offers to Undergraduates are commenced in May 2012. For the reasons stated above, a considerable length of time may elapse between on application and an offer of accommodation.
Please note: If we are not able to provide University accommodation you will be notified as soon as this becomes known.
