SPORTS BOXING
Mission: To build hope and resilience in the lives of youth and their families in Northwest Pasadena and West Altadena, we work in partnership with the community to provide life-changing services and to act as a catalyst for pragmatic solutions that reduce community violence, improve academic achievement, and launch career paths for the benefit of the greater Pasadena/ Altadena area.

Apprenticeship Preparation Program: Offered in partnership with Pasadena City College, the program prepares men and women (17-1/2 and up) for paid apprenticeships in the construction trades. Register at the PCC Community Education Center, 3035 E. Foothill Blvd., Room 100, Pasadena. Locations: Jackie Robinson Center and Villa Parke Community Center
Mustangs on the Move After-School Programs at John Muir High School: Educational and enrichment programs include college preparation, art, dance, music, theatre, sports, yoga, cooking, life skills, mentoring, homework assistance and credit recovery classes. Location: John Muir High School
SKILLZ Summer School: A four-week summer school program for Pasadena students (grades 9-12) who need to make up academic credits in English, algebra and pre-algebra. Location: Lake Avenue Church
Youth of Promise Mentoring Program: Mentors are recruited from the Pasadena Police and Fire departments, local businesses and city agencies. Mentors serve as positive role models and meet weekly with the students either one-on-one or in small groups for a minimum of one year. Many matches continue on through high school.
Strengthening Nonprofit Organizations / Building Leaders: Professional development services include educational workshops, trainings and consultations with nonprofit experts. Location: 236 West Mountain Street, Suite 117 & 118
Pasadena/Altadena Reintegration Council: The Pasadena Altadena Community Team (PACT) presents a monthly community resource fair where the formerly incarcerated and their families learn about beneficial social services and programs. These include employment and job skills training, transitional housing, G.E.D. enrollment, tattoo removal, health screenings, HIV testing, dental services referrals, and substance abuse treatment programs. .Location: VILLA 500, 500 East Villa Street
Olympic Style Boxing The Villa-Parke Boxing Program is an opportunity for youth to be trained in the fundamentals of Olympic Style Boxing. This training serves as an excellent juvenile diversion option while allowing participants to develop discipline and self-confidence. Our program prepares participants to compete in local shows and tournaments and several top amateur boxers are Villa-Parke alumni. Gym membership required. FEMALE SPORTS Robinson Park offers sports created for teenaged girls on a seasonal basis. Sports include indoor soccer, volleyball, and softball. This Spring we are continuing our soccer league. Come join us today. Instructor: Yuriko Montes Location: Robinson Park Center

Judo is a Japanese martial art designed for exercise, sport and self-defense. Through regular practice one may become more confident, disciplined and relaxed. The Boys and Girls of Pasadena, which celebrates its 75th anniversary in 2012, offers comprehensive programming that includes homework assistance and tutoring, leadership training, technology and science labs, visual and performing arts, and athletics. We service over 6,000 boys and girls annually and provide a safe place to go after school - no child is turned away.
