Dream of Wine Country Gallery and Art Studio Realized
Two Temecula artists, Dawn chemello, and Gabriele Baber have realized their dreams this week with the open- ing of a Wine Country Gallery of Fine art featuring local artists, for Dawn, and the desire for a working studio with a view for Gabriele. Little did the two col- leagues of the Temecula Valley Art As- sociation, realize just a month ago that their lives would end up so intertwined, and that their dreams would be real- ized.
Dawn had been watching this hill-
top building on the Van Roekel property for two years, waiting for it to become vacant, to jump in and turn it into a gal- lery.
It is very well known in the art com-
munity, that Gabriele has long dreamed of, and was actively searching for just the right a space for her studio outside of her converted garage in Temecula. When Dawn found this property avail- able, she approached Gabriele.
The
two met on the property with Dawn’s entheusiastic husband, and it was clear, that this dream should happen at this Van Roekel Winery location. Dawn would open her gallery of art filled with local artists, and Gabriele would rent the west facing room of the building for her working studio. Now, the two continue to work to make ready for the Opening Reception scheduled for March 2nd and the entire weekend thereof. Gabriele’s is looking forward to sharing her working processes with the public, as artist in residence at the gal- lery and Dawn is actively recruiting art- ists, to submit their works for judging.

The art work for the gallery will be juried by a panel of three, for acceptance to hang. Artists in the community are encouraged, to come to the lovely hilltop setting, to paint plein air, and gather to enjoy working together. The hope is that this gallery/studio arrange- ment will be a hub of creative activity for the Temecula Wine Coun- try. Already it was the location last week, for a newly formed plein air group PAAT (Plein Air Artists of Temecula) for their weekly plein air painting location. The gallery is storing items for the Temecula Valley Art League and hopes to work with TVAL and other local art associations for art events at the beautiful hilltop location. “To make the dream of turning Temecula into a serious art
destination, both the community and the artists will need to step it up and make it happen.” Says Gabriele. “Dawn and I are taking a big leap of faith, investing our time, energy, and resources, to get things moving in the in the right direction. We hope now, that the public, and the art community will help to keep this venture a vibrant part of our lovely Temecula Wine Country, with their support. The arts enhance our lives.
