ANNUAL YOUTH TALENT SHOWCASE.
The City of Murrieta is hosting its annual talent showcase; “A Night Among the Stars” on March 30, 2012. The talent showcase will be a chance for any and all youth (ages 5-18) to show off their skills in front of a LIVE audience. Come be a part of “A Night Among the Stars”. The Talent Showcase will be divided into two age categories: Juniors 5-11 and Seniors 12-18. Participants have four minutes to demonstrate any skill they please. Each participant will walk away with a certificate highlighting an award the judges have chosen. If you or someone you know is interested in showcasing their talents please visit

Application deadline is March 16th. The Talent Showcase is free to anyone who wishes to participate. All contestants need to be able to audition for the Youth Advisory Commit- tee on March 16th. Admission to watch the Talent Showcase is $3 for anyone 12 and older. Free for those 11 and younger. DRUG AWARENESS FOR PARENTS
New 6-Class Series Learn effective ways to help teenagers who are abusing sub- stances, and learn about current drug risks and trends. Is your teenager experimenting with alcohol or drugs? Do you suspect that your child may be addicted to drugs or alcohol? This seminar will help to empower parents with current trends in alcohol and other drugs and also examine the questions young people seek answers to. It will provide parents with the tools to have meaningful conversations with their teens when responding to que- ries that may be raised. Tips will be provided on how to detect if your child is using, or under the influence. Instructor: Vicky Williams, Drug and Alcohol Counselor Vicky has been a counselor at Oak Grove Center for over a year
and has over 8 years of experience in the field of Chemical Depen- dency. She has over 15 of experience working with adolescents. Class Schedule: All classes will meet on Sunday from 4:00 p.m.
to 6:00 p.m. on the following dates: March 4th, April 1st, May 6th, June 10th, and July 1st. Attendance at all classes is not required. Open to the public. Oak Grove families are welcome to attend.
