Earth Day Recycled Art and Fash- ion Event – April 21.
Many good things have happened since last month, concerning The Earth Day Recycled Art and Fashion event, which be held at Monte de Oro Win- ery on April 21, 2012. The event will
be presented by Temecula Recycling and Promethean Bio-Fuels, both companies located on Diaz Road in Temecula. The proceeds from this event will benefit local youth in Temecula Valley. All Art and fashion must be made from recycled items; we are currently seeking Vendors and Sponsors for this event. We are inviting Art- ists to participate in the show as well as purchase a booth space for their handmade items. We are encouraging “green friendly” business leaders to become sponsors or corporate vendors, to promote the awareness and the importance of Recycling, Reusing and Sustainability.
Mark your Calendars come as a guest, or participate in this great cultural free event!

Spring in Your Garden Spring is around the corner, and our gardens will be call-
ing out to us! Time to turn the soil, clean up any winter dried up flowers or veggies, and put some good fertilizer into the soil to get ready for the young plants, helping them produce and grow strong into delicious food or beautiful flowers. I have been tending to my compost bins for many months now, and we have a huge pile of ‘black gold’ ready to put on the veggie gardens. This is the first year I have had so much fertilizer (black
gold), and I am hoping to see tremendous results, with large full producing plants, and hopefully not too many bugs! Most garden worms are invited but some are not, including the Tomato Horned Worm! These things are nasty, look out for them, for they can eat a whole tomato plant in one night! I had them in the garden last year, and fought them off daily! Using worm tea, from the vermicomposting is supposed to help keep these creatures away from your beautiful veggies; I will be trying out my worm tea this season, as a natural fertilizer and also as a “bad” bug deterrent. Gardening and composting has become part of my life,
although it is sometimes challenging to make time for this passion of mine, it takes extra time and physical work the gardening part is actually very aerobic, who needs the gym when you can get a work-out in your own backyard! Gardening is very rewarding especially when you can even-
tually eat your ‘efforts’! Composting is easy, and less time con- suming, it is really just developing different habits, and reminding your family to put their non-meat food waste into the compost bin. When done correctly, the compost becomes rich fertilizer for your garden and usually just makes your garden more suc- cessful.
