Many children eagerly await visits
from the Easter Bunny or the Elf on the Shelf each year while St. Patrick’s Day goes by somewhat unnoticed. Two Johns Creek moms hope to change all that with their new book, Lucky the Leprechaun.
Samantha S. Brown and Risa Rae
each have children of their own and wanted to write a story that would not only capture a child’s imagination and sense of fun, but also teach important moral lessons about being kind and respectful.
In their rhyming story, Lucky the
Leprechaun is a small bearded man who rewards children who have been well-behaved by leaving treats for them on the morning of St. Patrick’s Day.
Included with the book is a craft kit for building a leprechaun trap. Children can decorate their trap with gold coins and shamrocks, hoping to capture Lucky, who is usually too clever and quick to be caught. Brown enjoys speaking to parents who surprise their kids on St. Patrick’s Day with evidence of a visit from the “wee folk” during the night. Many
