Clement L. (Sonny) Dunkley, formerly of Reading, MA and Salem, died February 14, 2012, after a long illness. He was the son of Clement and Rita Dunkley

and was raised in Salem. Clement graduated from the Woodbury School and was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame. He raised his family in Reading were he retired from the Federal Highway Administration. He enjoyed sailing, the water, and time spent with family; especially at Ocean Park, ME. He became quite the golfer in his retirement. He married his high school sweetheart, Eileen (Currier), who predeceased


He is survived by his lovely wife, Shirley (Donati); his four children and their spouses, Sue and Dave LaFortune, Steven and Darby Dunkley, David Dunkley, and Joyce and Skip Joyce; seven grandchildren, Jenna, Katelyn, Danielle, Christine, Jake, Michael and Adam; his brother, Gordon; sister-in-laws, Mim and Ruth; many nieces and nephews; and his stepson, William Donati and his family.


His Memorial Service will be held in New Port


Richey, FL, at the Community Congregational Church, UCC on March 3.

Ruth was born and educated in Methuen, MA, the daughter of the late Alice (Carter) and Ernest Lane. She was a visiting nurse for many years and had taught kindergarten in Methuen. Ruth was a member of the Pleasant Street United Methodist Church in Salem. She enjoyed sewing, dancing, and playing the piano for the residents of the nursing home. She was predeceased by her husbands, Joseph Borgkvist and Maurice Simonds. Ruth is survived by her husband, Wendell “Peanut” Matott of Boscawen; sisters, Gladys Lane of Canterbury, and Norma Lane of Hampstead; nephews, Kenneth Lane, David Lane, Raymond Lane, Jr., Myron Lane and William Lane; and niece, Dianna Lane. A Funeral Service was held at the Douglas and Johnson Funeral Home on February 25, followed by burial in Colonial Veterans Cemetery, Salem. Memorial donations may be made to Pleasant Street UMC Food Pantry, 80 Pleasant Street, Salem, NH 03079.
