ATHLETICS

Triathlon Season Starts with Two MAC Events

events on Sunday, March 11 from 9-11 a.m. This year, in addition to the indoor tri, there is a new event, the 10-10-10. The indoor tri is the basic time trial (transi- tion time is not counted) of a 200-meter swim, 10-mile stationary bike ride, and a two-mile run on the indoor track. Each segment is timed over a specific distance and totaled for time. In the 10-10-10 event the total distance of each sport of the swim, bike and run is totaled over a 10-minute period each. The 10-10-10 offers a new challenge for members who may be more competitive, but also to the new triathlete who has a limited time for each sport. There are awards for age group winners and light snacks and drinks are available. There is also a relay category for those who want to team up with other members. So, for all the athletic committee members, or cycle and swim committees, this provides a great rivalry. The Indoor Tri and the 10-10-10 is a great tune up for the Shamrock Run the following Sunday. Look forward to signing up for these exciting challenges on the Basement-level Triathlon and Running bulletin board.
