4 People not Profit present ‘I AM’ the
ultimate reality show
4 people not Profit’s monthly film night ‘Open your mind’ returns with I AM, an utterly engaging and entertaining non -fiction film that poses two practical and provocative questions: what’s wrong with our world, and what can we do to make it better? The filmmaker behind the inquiry is Tom Shadyac, one of Hollywood’s leading comedy practitioners and the creative force behind such blockbusters as “Ace Ventura,” “Liar Liar,” “The Nutty Professor,” and “Bruce Almighty.” However, in I AM, Shadyac steps in front of the
camera to recount what happened to him after a cycling accident left him incapacitated, possibly for good. Though he ultimately recovered, he emerged with a new sense of purpose, determined to share his own awakening to his prior life of excess and greed, and to investigate how he as an individual, and we as a race, could improve the way we live and walk in the world. The film will be screened as usual upstairs in The
Marine, Saltburn and will be on Thursday ,March 15th. Doors at 7pm and the film starts at 7.30pm. With great wit, warmth, curiosity, and masterful
storytelling skills, Shadyac reveals what science now tells us is one of the principal truths of the universe, a message that is as simple as it is significant: We are all connected. Connected to each other and to everything around us. “My hope is that I AM is a window into Truth, a glimpse into the miracle, the mystery and magic of who we really are, and of the basic nature of the connection and unity of all things.
So be sure not to miss this very special showing of a
very special film, which has been showered with praise by all those who have seen it: “Amazing…” --Ellen Degeneres; “Everyone needs to see this film!” --Bruce Cohen, Academy Award Winning Producer (American Beauty) “Entertaining and enlightening. The I AM Documentary is a spark of light and a work of love.” -- Marianne Williamson, New York Times Best Seller.
Saltburn Scouts
Wow! What a response we got from last month’s Talk of the Town article: Beavers are now back to having a waiting list! Please if you have a 5 year old boy or girl and you think they’d be interested in joining 1st Saltburn please put their name down. It’s never too early you know and if they change their mind it doesn’t matter. Cubs and scouts do have limited spaces available. We didn’t get much of a response to the Jubilee
appeal for help, though. Come on, let’s organize a street party for Saltburn and go the full hog and close off a road. Get in touch because it’ll be fun! Even if you’re not particularly a royalist it’s an excuse for a party! Call Jade 07976 095134 for Cubs and Scouts, Kerry
07505 112714 for Beavers or either of us for helping to organize the party!
