THE TOTAL MOTORING PACKAGE Cliff Lift film on sale

Saltburn’s cliff-lift is to feature in a new series for BBC2 in February and March presented by John Sergeant. Jan Cawood, of Tin Man Films, of Stockton, said

this during a talk she gave to Saltburn and District Retired Men’s Forum on 23rd January when she told how a three- minute DVD on the lift was made by her firm in 2011. See the other article and picture on page 22. The BBC2 series will be called Britain’s First Photo

Album and spotlights the life and work of Victorian photographer Francis Frith. The Saltburn scenes are expected to be screened at 6pm in March about half way through the 10-part series. Jan’s DVD was well received by the 26 forum

members present. Ernie Crust, proposing a vote of thanks, said he was pleased to see Northern Film and Media, which commissioned the film, showing an interest in Saltburn. He said the lift was the jewel in Saltburn’s crown

and he hoped it would last another 150 years after being rebuilt last year in a £30,000 restoration project. Jan’s film ‘55 Seconds’ is available at £6 from Saltburn library, the Artsbank and Profile gallery.
