Saltburn Athletic (Junior) FC Under 8s
The Under 8s have played two further games since the last report. The first was an away game against local rivals Redcar Athletic. Having kept the Redcar team at bay they were given a rather fortunate free kick on the edge of the penalty area and scored on the half time whistle. The second half was one to forget and was probably our poorest performance of the season. The Man of the Match was shared between Joseph Ritson and Kaiden Gregory. The next game was a home match against Kader
Rangers played on a cold and frosty morning. We did well but in the end succumbed to a narrow defeat. This was a much better performance than the previous game. Man of the Match for this game was Jacob Hollingworth. The next match versus Redcar Town was postponed
due to the snow and freezing conditions. We have four matches remaining of which three are home games. The Club are seeking players in the current school
years Y2, Y3, Y4 and Y5 to play League football commencing in September 2012. Coaching sessions are currently held on Saturday mornings at the rear of Huntcliff school (entrance opposite Saltburn Golf Club). During the summer months this will will change to midweek evening sessions. Please contact Andy Croll Tel : 07779 648877 for more information.

6 Under 11s game at the Education Village between Middleton Rangers and Saltburn Athletic. Even though the score was 6-0 to the home team, both clubs want to be so proud of their players, especially the Saltburn team who played with 9 KIDS. This to me is what junior football is all about, anybody can praise a team in Division 1 who are doing well, but what I like about your squads is that even though the players will never be the best on earth, THE SPIRIT IS AMAZING, THE KIDS TRY THEIR HEART OUT, HEADS NEVER GO DOWN. TOTAL CREDIT to the teams of Saltburn and Middleton Rangers. If the Parents + Players of Division 1 Clubs could come and watch how your teams, from the Managers, GLEN, GARY (Saltburn), STUART (Middleton Rangers), all the PARENTS and most of all, THE KIDS, learn how to behave and not to take things so serious, and just enjoy the game then, refereeing would be so much more enjoyable. We had one incident today where the Saltburn number 7 (Jamie, hope you’re ok, mate) accidentally got a kick in the face from a Middleton player. There was no commotion from the parents, Jamie got treatment from his Manager, then shook hands with the Middleton player, and got on with the game. I wish it was on film so the FA could use it as an example, TOP CLASS! WELL DONE TO EVERYBODY CONNECTED WITH THE UNDER 11s FROM BOTH TEAMS. YOU ARE A TOTAL EXAMPLE OF HOW FOOTBALL SHOULD BE PLAYED + ENJOYED. THANK YOU FOR TODAY, IT WAS A TOTAL PLEASURE.” (Geoff Johns, Durham FA) The team are looking for new Players to bolster the
existing squad. If you are interested please contact Gary Hagen Tel : 0750 6097423
