Health and beauty Unlike many gyms, Ollie and the


other trainers also offer 24-hour support, seven days a week, so if you’ve forgotten an exercise or are struggling to resist a cheeseburger, they are on hand to help drive you and keep you on track. You can text, call, email or even Skype your trainer. Can’t make the gym? How about a virtual workout, with your trainer doing the exercises with you via a webcam? The sessions are also tailored to


burn as much fat as possible. “We aim to burn your primary


energy source (your carbohydrates) by doing weights and exhausting the muscles, then doing cardio and purely burning fat,” says Ollie.


You are what you eat As part of the programme, clients are also given a tailored eating plan by peak performance coach, Manjit. Ollie was recommended a combination of protein and carbs for breakfast (namely porridge and eggs) followed by honey and fruit, with fast-releasing sugars to produce energy for the day ahead. “You don’t want to eat fast-releasing


sugars like fruit later than 10am, unless immediately after training, because it will slow your metabolism down,” explains Ollie. Instead Ollie eats natural yoghurt and avocado – you need a ‘good fat’ with each meal for energy and to help digestion. Main meals then consist of meat


and green, leafy vegetables (with a slow-releasing carb at lunch only, such as a sweet potato or pitta bread). Ollie also tries to include chillies, garlic and ginger with most meals to help raise his body temperature and speed up his


metabolism. “If you eat six times a day you


are always digesting something and your metabolism is constantly working,” says Ollie. “It’s like chucking something on a fire to keep it burning. If you throw a whole pile of logs on at once it will quickly burn out, it’s about steadily feeding it to keep that flame alive.” Another tip Ollie shares is eating


cottage cheese, a case in protein, and no-added-salt-or -sugar peanut butter before bed as it takes six hours to digest and so requires your metabolism to work for you throughout the night, and it repairs muscles. He is also a big fan of green tea for its fat-burning properties. Ollie is also allowed two “cheat meals” a week to stop any cravings. There is no denying that Ollie


was fit and healthy before the programme but it shows what this level of dedication (and support) can do. Ollie wanted to lower his body fat percentage and increase his muscle mass. “I feel amazing health wise,” says


Ollie, who now offers the same service to his clients. “I used to have IBS and this nutritional programme has cured it for me. I sleep better, I feel great. It has pushed me to my full potential. “I regularly run for the Encephalitis


Society and I have knocked 10 minutes off my best running time since going on the plan. When I joined Absolutely Fit I wanted to be able to prove to my clients that our programmes work, and I think I am living proof of that. I am passionate about what I do because I know it works.
