Be a flu fighter

It is not too late to get your free flu immunisation.

NHS Telford and Wrekin is encouraging pregnant women, who have not yet had their free flu immunisa- tion, to contact their GP practice and book their ap- pointment today. Nationally over the past two years, a significant number of normally fit and well pregnant women have been critically ill in hospital suffering from flu- some- times with devastating con-

sequences. By not having the flu immunisation, there is an increased risk of seri- ous complications such as bronchitis and pneumonia, even in some cases pre- mature birth or a still birth. Remember the flu im- munisation is tried, effec- tive and safe. NHS Telford and Wrekin is encouraging people, who are eligible,

to con-

tact their GP practice and book

their appointment.

Bin it. Kill it.

Good hand hygiene - the ‘catch it, bin it, kill it’ tech- nique – reduces the spread of flu germs. This means carrying tissues, covering coughs and sneezes with a tissue, disposing of the tissue after one use, and cleaning hands as soon as possible with soap and wa- ter or an alcohol hand gel. Help protect yourself and others from flu by follow- ing these simple steps. For more information visit www. telford.nhs.uk.

Urgent GP advice is available 24 hours a day 365 days a year.

When your surgery is closed you will be directed to Shropdoc (the out of hours GP service on 08444 068 888).
