Chris added: “Many Christian ministries and church leaders have been involved in programmes on the station. The Christian community in Plymouth is actively involved in many areas of social need, such as drug and alcohol rehabilitation, homelessness, family breakdown, debt management and much more besides.”

“It’s a real privilege to have our very own radio station in Plymouth, not only do we get to hear contemporary Christian music but it provides the opportunity for the city’s people to hear of the good news of Jesus and God’s unconditional love towards us all’

“I am delighted that Ofcom have awarded Cross Rhythms a further five year extension on their license. The platform the radio provides in promoting so many community projects is vital for the city. The station has continually highlighted the important role that faith groups and the voluntary sector play in our city.”

Congratulations to Cross Rhythms on their new 5 year licence

“The Faith Action Audit was an independent survey of how faith-based initiatives contribute to the welfare of the city,” said Chris. “It showed that the faith community in Plymouth annually contribute around 450,000 hours of work, worth at least £2.8m to the local community.

“The publication of this report was well-received by civic leaders and other public bodies such as the police and probation service. It underlined the concept of the ‘Big Society’ promoted by David Cameron and clearly demonstrated the value of the faith-based organisations and the voluntary sector in our communities today.”

For the last five years Cross Rhythms Plymouth has not only provided a regular platform for churches, church leaders and ministries, but also for a wide range of community organisations, such as the Citizens Advice Bureau, Devon & Cornwall Police, Probation Service, YMCA, Youth Parliament, Community Health and many more.

“We are looking forward to the next five years with excitement and optimism,” said Chris. “The current economic difficulties which many families in the city face means that our message of Christian love and hope has never been more relevant.”

“It was pleasing to hear that Cross Rhythms has been granted a further five year licence by Ofcom. In an age when it can seem that the Christian faith is being pushed to the side-lines, a good clear voice in the public forum is important. Christians have much to contribute to the Common Good and Cross Rhythms is one of the ways that offer can be made.”
