had promised his sister that he was going to start going to a church that she knew about. His sister still lived in their village and went to church there. He went on to explain that the man who started the church in their village had a son who was starting a church in Pachuca, and he had promised his sister that he would start going there. I answered that that was great, and asked him what village he was from. He answered, “You wouldn’t know it since it was more than five hours away in a territory called ‘the Huasteca.’” I then smiled
and said that I had grown up in the Huasteca. With amazement he then told me what village he was from and that the man’s name who started the church in his village was Johnson. I could not believe my ears. Tirty years ago my dad started a church in a remote village in Mexico, and today I was speaking to a man from that village who was looking for me in a city five hours away from his home, and the reason we met at all is because a kid I knew shopliſted some duct tape. Te next day, I visited Lupe in his
home, and he, his wife, and teenage son gave their lives to Christ. Tey were all baptized in December. As we reflect on the things God does, I can’t help but thank Him for the faithfulness of BMA churches to send missionaries to the world. Tis unbelievable story of victory, and others like it, is only possible because God has chosen to allow the churches of our association to plant churches in Mexico for more than 50 years. In good times and times that appear to be not so good, may we be found faithful in the next 50 years. n
