Steffi Nossen School of Dance Celebrates 75 Years by Alison Kattleman
Marvel at the graceful moves of advanced students when The Steffi Nossen School of Dance celebrates their 75th year with a benefit concert on Saturday, March 31, at the Performing Arts Center at Purchase College.
“Generations of dancers have expressed apprecia- tion for the special place that this organization has played in their lives,” said Jeannie W. Aplin, Steffi Nossen Dance Director. “Whether they be our young- est three year olds enchanted by their first explora- tions in dance, our hip hoppers, our dancers with special needs, or our pre-professional dancers… this is a vibrant community embracing the needs and interests of all.”
Filled with an assortment of fresh and re-staged works by top names, including a new work cho- reographed by Annmaria Mazzini, recently retired principal dancer with the Paul Taylor Company, the concert’s proceeds will benefit the school’s outreach and financial aid programs. Beginning with a silent
auction and cocktail reception at 6:30pm, followed by the performance at 8pm, the program will also feature a film by producer Bryan Russo, highlighting Steffi Nossen’s role in the community and the mod- ern dance world.
“As we begin this year of celebration…we appreciate the long-term support of ArtsWestchester and that of our many friends. Contributions and grants enable us to continue our mission of making the joy of dance available to all,” said Ms. Aplin. “Always balancing tradition and change, the organization looks forward to a bright future.”
