To turn this vision into a reality, local engineering firm Wendler Engineering Services served as the Project Design and Implementation Lead Consultant and the Civil / Structural Engineer.


Heritage Crossing’s facilities and features serve as a popular destination for the people of Dixon and its visitors and provide valuable insight into local history.


The State of Illinois Governor’s Hometown Awards Program was created in 1983 to formally recognize those who have answered the Constitution’s call by improving their communities’ quality of life. The City of Dixon’s Heritage Crossing was the winner of the 2010 Governor’s Hometown Award in the History and Historic Preservation project category for its population group.


The American Council of Engineering Companies of Illinois awarded the City of Dixon and Wendler an Engineering Excellence Award in 2010 for the Heritage Crossing Design.
