What WoolSafe Certification means
The WoolSafe accreditation programme is a certification scheme for carpet and rug cleaning and maintenance products to indicate that they have been tested and approved as being suitable for use on wool and other quality fibres.
Chemicals are tested for a range of characteristics and they must meet strict performance and safety requirements before they are entitled to carry the WoolSafe Certification Mark.
Subject to satisfactory test results, any carpet maintenance
product may be approved: shampoos, extraction chemicals, encapsulating/crystallising cleaning agents, traffic lane cleaners, spotters, protectors, and other auxiliary products.
Details of the WoolSafe tests, product performance requirements and other key aspects of the program are specified in WoolSafe StandardsWS 1000.
Products carrying the Green WoolSafe Mark meet all the performance requirements of the standard WoolSafe Mark and additionally meet the environmental standards of either Green Seal or EcoLogo, as specified in WoolSafe Standard WS 1002.
The WoolSafe Organisation runs networks of WoolSafe Accredited Cleaning Technicians in a number of countries, in Europe, Australia and North America. These technicians are fully trained and experienced in the cleaning and maintenance of wool carpets and rugs and use WoolSafe Approved products.
