Letter from the Editor
In 2010 it was announced that Grand Rapids would host a 10-day festival dedi- cated to laughter. The festival would be called LaughFest and proceeds would benefit Gilda’s Club Grand Rapids. At REVUE, we weren’t sure what to expect.
We — like anyone else — love a good laugh, but we also know that it’s risky to organize and launch a festival of this size. LaughFest, for lack of a better term, laughed
at our prior criticism and put on a flawless event. The festival impressed us all and raised an enormous amount of money for Gilda’s Club, a free support community of children, adults, families and friends affected by cancer. Needless to say, we’re excited for round
two, so we’ve bumped up the coverage in our second Funny Issue. I’m particularly excited to feature the
lovably neurotic Marc Maron, who was in- terviewed by Rich Tupica, managing editor of REVUE Mid Michigan. Longtime REVUE reporter Jayson Bussa also had the pleasure of talking to national

and local comics such as Rodney Carrington, former NFL cheerleader Anjelah Johnson and local improv groups Don’t We Boys and River City Improv. In addition to our awesome LaughFest
coverage, Kelli Kolakowski gives us a peek inside the Grand Rapids Art Museum’s Robert Rauschenberg exhibition and I had the opportunity to speak to punk rock icon Henry Rollins. I’ll admit, I was a little star struck.
