Proud of LC
After serving on the Alumni Association Board of Directors for five years, I am honored to serve you as the next Alumni Association president. I feel gratified to have witnessed the significant progress the Association has made in recent years. There
is still much to do and I believe there has never been a better time to be an alumnus of Lynchburg College. The College continues to be recognized for
the numerous achievements of its students, faculty, and alumni. The current student body is excelling in academics, athletics, and commu- nity service. The dedicated and enthusiastic faculty continues to impact lives on and off campus. Throughout the country and increas- ingly around the world, lc alumni are succeed- ing in countless fields and myriad endeavors. The future success of the College will be
determined by all of these constituencies. As alumni, we have an important job to do and it involves a multifaceted approach. One way to connect lc beyond Central Virginia is to reach out to our professional communities on behalf of current students and recent graduates. Next, we should give back to lc by being part of on- campus programs that connect alumni of all generations to current students. It is not only gratifying, but a lot of fun, too. Connecting alumni in our local communities
is another way to spread the lc story to future students and maintain relationships beyond
the undergraduate on-campus experience. Alumni gatherings are taking place in cities and towns around the country and nothing speaks louder of the lc experience than increased attendance at these events. Strengthening the lc alumni club network will be one of our primary goals in the coming years. The progress we have made in the past five
years under the leadership of Phil Mazzara ’70 and, most recently, Dr. Kathryn Pumphrey ’75, ’88 M.Ed., will continue in large part because of the strength and depth of our Alumni Asso- ciation Board of Directors. These dedicated and talented individuals span several generations, but all share a love for our College and a true desire to enhance the experiences of lc alumni. I am truly proud to be part of such an impres- sive group of fellow graduates. There are so many things happening at the
College for us all to be proud of. Our deeply committed alumni volunteers give their time and energy to improve alumni activities on campus and around the country. The College has terrific people in the Alumni Relations Office, and other departmental staff are willing to assist and promote these efforts. There really has never been a better time to be an alumnus of Lynchburg College.
