Year 12 Art students visit Wallace Collection On Thursday 26th
January, the GCH
Y12 AS Art class visited The Wallace Collection. Based in Central London the collection houses a varied selection of 18th
and 19th century Art including works
by Titian and Rembrandt. Students explored the galleries making drawings of bronze sculptures, before spending the afternoon life drawing with a model in the basement galleries of the building.
Student Alex Law comments: “When we arrived, the interior of the building overwhelmed us with its royal colours and grand decoration, but we soon became accustomed to each room’s furnishings. We were shown around and chose from a selection of bronze to draw from.
After lunch, it was time for the life drawing section of the day. We sat in a drawing room sketching out our model in different poses using a range of different media such as chalk, charcoal, coloured pencils, etc. We really enjoyed the day, produced some really good drawings and had fun looking around the different rooms.”
