Access Leisure provides recreational activities such as social and fitness programs, special events, trips and excursions for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Quad Rugby Wheelchair or Quad Rugby is a fast-paced and competitive sport for individuals with physical disabilities that affect all four extremities. Players use special “Rugby Wheelchairs” to play the sport. Rugby players must be able to push their own wheelchairs. Quad Rugby practices are Tuesdays 6-9pm at Rosa Parks Middle School. The Sierra Storm quad rugby team practice is one Saturday a month at same location. Tuesday Course# 104331 Saturday Course # 104332
Goalball Goalball is a challenging team sport developed for people who are blind or visually impaired. It promotes exercise, team spirit, community involvement and social interaction. Goalball is played in teams of three on a volleyball-sized court with raised boundary and information lines. Course # 104148
Baseball for All The Sacramento River Cats and Access Leisure are proud to announce the 11th Annual “Baseball for All” skills clinic being held Saturday, May 12th, 2012. This FREE skills clinic is held on the fully accessible River Cats Independence Field, 2450 Meadowview Road. Pre- registration required.
Paralympic Experience 2012 Individuals with physical and visual disabilities are invited to join us for an introduction into Paralympic Sports! Sport Clinics will be led by Paralympic athletes and coaches and all skill levels are welcome. Saturday, May 5th - Venue TBA
Handcycling and Tandem Club Come join in this fun and exciting sport that can be shared with family and friends while providing excellent health benefits. We will be adding new rides and joining with established events for another exciting cycling season. TBA on website Session II (April – October, 2012)
River Cats Independence Field Is a fully-accessible baseball field made of a rubberized surface ideal for players with disabilities that use either manual or power wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, or no assistive devices, to “Play Ball”! Join the RCIF youth baseball league for children with physical and/or intellectual disabilities. Spring league begins on Saturday, April 7, 2012. Rock N’ Roll Yosemite May 14-17 The plans are rolling for 7th Annual “Rock ‘n Roll Yosemite” spring excursion to experience the sights, sounds and natural wonders of Yosemite National Park. This four (4) day three (3) nights tour will utilize handcycles or tandem cycles to tour the valley floor, including educational programs and is specifically designed with physically challenged individuals in mind. There will be Adaptive Rock Climbing sessions on the granite rock wall led by Mark Wellman. Must be 21 years of age or older.
