Fest at Lake Shelbyville Come and enjoy colorful balloons as they launch from various locations in and around Lake Shelbyville and dot the sky with color. Come watch as pilots from all over the mid-west fly over targets to complete tasks and compete for prizes. There are flights Friday night, Saturday and Sunday mornings and a spectacular balloon glow and cookout with a DJ on Saturday night the weekend of Columbus Day. Shelby Electric Cooperative and several other Illinois Touchstone Cooperatives are the main sponsors. To sponsor a balloon, volunteer as crew or just want to learn more about the balloon fest held in Shelbyville, Illinois, please call Kevin Bernson at 217-774-3986.

Forest Park and downtown Shelbyville are full of activities for everyone to enjoy. You can Make It,


Take It Scarecrows, play Bingo, and enjoy the many food and craft ven- dors. There are plenty of kids games and entertainment! At 10 am Saturday enjoy the Annual Scarecrow Daze Parade, which delights the young and old alike. The annual Scarecrow Daze Car, Truck and Motorcycle show is held throughout the day as well. Join us this Spring for the area’s annual Mushroom hunt! The two hour event will begin with a shotgun start, when pre-registered hunters will test their skill and/or luck in a secret location. The Lake Shelbyville Spores-N-More Mushroom Festival Champion will be the person who turns in the most morel mushrooms gathered in the allotted time.


The communities of Findlay, Shelbyville, Windsor and Sullivan—with the assistance of Heartland RC&D, will sponsor a weekend of fun activities for the whole family.

Come Share with us the magic of the season in Shelbyville’s Forest Park. The enchanting light displays will help brighten your holidays and fill you with the spirit of Christmas! The lights decorate all areas of the park and include soldiers, elves, villagers, buildings, and animated displays including the historic Chautauqua building as a huge carousel.


Hours are Sun.-Thurs. 6 pm-9 pm and Fri.-Sat. 6 pm-10 pm. Come and see the work strictly done by volunteers that help make this display possible. New displays are added every year for a unique and enjoyable experience. Donations are accepted at the end of the tour and are always welcome!
