“Thumbs down to the Hudson School District, for not letting parents become involved when there are issues at school regarding violence. They care more about keeping things quiet than they do keeping children safe. They hide behind privacy laws and refuse to set up meetings between parents, yet they are constantly telling us parents to get involved with our children.”
“Thumbs down. Wondering
why Mitt only pays 15%? It’s what everybody who has dividend income pays. It’s no secret, no tricks, look it up! Dividend income, by the way, is from investments he purchased with money he’s already paid taxes on. He pays more taxes in a year than you’ll make in a lifetime. I’d be more concerned with the 48% of people in this country who pay no Federal Income tax.”
“Thumbs up. Recently I had to go into the town hall and register my vehicle, and the experience was a pleasant one. A lady by the name of Diane, one of the town clerks was very courteous and went out of her way to do a couple of things that she really didn’t have to do and it was a very pleasant experience.”

Obviously, we are in an economy that doesn’t have a lot of jobs, so how dare you say you’re disgusted by the notion that they’re eating better than you. jobs and you end up on the card. Then maybe I can call up and say something about you!! You’re ignorant and you’re arrogant, and I think you should rethink about who you’re speaking about, your own kind! We’re all in the same boat, Lady!! Goodbye!!!!”
“Thumbs down to the increasing number of ‘family plots’ spontaneously appearing around town. People are generally understanding and sympathetic toward families regarding loss - within reason. The appearance and number of ‘crash-crosses’ all over town is now ridiculous, affecting our own appreciation of scenery. It’s time to stop taking advantage of people’s continued patience by making efforts to move on positively with life. End these presumed, inconsiderate impositions upon residents who also live here and have to look at these things all over the place. These ‘Shrines’ distort the town’s image for those who may be considering moving or working here. Many of these areas are public. Taxpayers were never asked if they wanted the scenery of every winding turn or intersection to be hijacked by bunches of white
crosses...in perpetuity, apparently. Selectmen, businessmen, planners- these only get worse without limits. Please consider establishing reasonable and up- front parameters for these Attractive Nuisances. No longer temporary...which may also be viewed as littering.”
“Thumbs down!! To the Town of Hudson for taking money out of our general fund budget that went towards raises for town employees last year! These raises were given for town employees’ without taxpayer consent! Now there trying to take an extra $300,000 to pay for a (2.5 million dollar mostly general fund paid) senior center and media center. This is taxpayer money that shouldn’t be used frivolously! Every year what’s left over from our yearly budget goes into our general fund. This general fund is taxpayer money! It should not be used without taxpayer consent!”
“Thumbs down to Haffners advertising $3.45 a gallon for unleaded fuel but then charging $3.49 at the pump if you use a credit card. I used my card as debit (which is cash) but still got charged the premium as if it was a credit card.”
“Thumbs up to the two Campbell High School
Football Players accepted to the US Navy and Army Academies. Great job and Best of Luck!”
“Thumbs up to Maria Kramer, the Kramer
Family, Friends of Music, Parents and Alumni, Music Students and all who attended Saturday’s Pasta Palooza. The Alvirne Cafeteria never looked so good. The pasta was hot, the bands were entertaining and the Student waiters and waitresses were friendly and wonderful. Fun was had by all, we feel sorry for the people who missed it. Can’t wait for Cabaret March 31st through April 1st.”
Thomas Buja “Thumbs down to blaming
the Police Officer for not making the arrest. I am a Police Officer in another town. I can tell you right now she was not arrested
because she was probably found hours after the
crash. If this is the case then she cannot be charged with DWI. You should know the Law before you post something you don’t know anything about. You should have called the police to let them know where she was at. It is cowards like you who want to criticize the police but do not come forward to assist.”
Wrestling Coach. Your caring and commitment to your players both on the field/mat and off is exemplary and should be commended. You go above and beyond for your athletes everyday. You are an asset to CHS student athletes and to the town of Litchfield.”
“Thumbs down to CHS administration for not having a representative at the Divisional State Tournament for Wrestling. As a parent of a student athlete, it is affirming to see someone representing the school to support the athletes.”
“Thumbs up, Hudson. Wow,
two weeks of coverage from the town TV crew and it could be understood as well as viewed properly, is this the same as school board crew? Nice job with the town meetings.”
“Thumbs down to Alvirne,
a ‘High school of excellence.’ On any given Saturday there are 50-60 kids assigned to detention. Half of those don’t bother to show up and
Mr.Lane doesn’t know what to do. So he sends out an email to all parents looking for advice... time for a new principle? Another example of his poor leadership.”
“Thumbs down to all the expires 3/4/12
owners that do not clean up after your dogs at Benson’s. The place that is supposed to be a family park that has turned into a huge disgusting dog litter box. You can’t walk five feet without dodging the poop. My kids love to go there to fish, walk and play on the playground but they at 5 and 7 made a comment
about how bad it smells. Stop being so lazy and clean up after your pets or I hope the place is shut down, it’s starting to become a health hazard!”
“Thumbs up to The new Litchfield Playgroup that is being held at the Talent Hall. We have been having so much fun these past few weeks. I can’t wait until school vacation next week so my 2 older kids can come. So much fun!”
“Thumbs down to Selectman and other town officials running for office, saying we have one of the lowest tax rates in the state, this is a ‘used car salesman’ shell game! Everyone knows properties

“Thumbs up to the Alvirne Freshman Boys Basketball team! You made it to the Freshman Finals and came so close to winning! You should be as proud of yourselves as your families are. Great sportsmanship showed both on and off the court makes the town of Hudson proud of each and everyone of you. That alone makes a winning team in your fans eyes. Bring it to the court for the next three years and a champsionship trophy will find it’s way to your gymnasium.”
“Thumbs down to the new Boat TAX and Cutting our Town lawn Debris pickup days to only 1 day a year! With all the money town is going to saved on trash removal and snow removal this year. They should at least increase our leaf pickup days to 3 x a year. Who ever heard of a boat tax! I’m surprised they don’t come up with a lawnmower tax, at this point! Contact your BOS let them know how you feel! It’s the only way we can get them to listen and stop cutting our services! Vote March13th!”
“Thumbs down. It is amazing to hear the stories parents hear when they listen to a young teenager’s get together and the things they say that they do or have done while they are in this age of learning. Parents just need to ask to hear what is going on. Those phones that are used in ways as adults would not send pictures out there so why are the kids doing it?
Also, once again
some early teens even know how to bartend. What are we thinking as parents? Aren’t we here to teach our children right from wrong? Some things are dangerous habits of life that can be prevented by us with loving direction.”
“Thumbs up to the Litchfield Youth Wrestling Group for running such an excellent Middle School Wrestling MOC tournament. Great job!”
“Thumbs up to Bob Gannon, Campbell High School’s Girls’ Varsity Soccer Coach and Varsity

Thumbs Up? Thumbs Down? “We want to be your Mechanic”
“Thumbs up or down? I have worked in Public Safety for over 25 years and I question the wisdom of the sports team stickers parents place on their vehicles. “[Baseball Graphic] Tigers #15 Billy” It gives information about their child to strangers and potential criminals. The same goes for the stick figure family stickers. They show Mom, Dad & how many boys & girls are in the family. More information a potential criminal can use against you and your family.”
“Thumbs down to people who walk in the break down lane on Central Street (or any street, for that matter) at night (especially in dark clothes) when there is a perfectly good sidewalk two steps away. Are you trying to get yourself killed?”
“Thumbs up to the folks on Charles Bancroft
Highway in Litchfield with the lighthouse at the end of their driveway. We think it’s great! Are there certain times you have it lit? Because there have been a number of times we’ve driven by when it wasn’t and we miss it. It brings a smile to our faces on our way to or from Manchester.”
“Thumbs up to Captain Doug and Firefighter Jim of the Litchfield Fire Department for showing our Daisy troop your station, the trucks, the equipment, for giving the girls a ride in the trucks, and for educating them on what you do to protect our community. We had a great time and the smiles on their faces as they rode around in the truck was priceless!! Thank you for all you do to make our community safer!!”
“Thumbs down to people who can’t control their unleashed dogs in the Litchfield Forest. For the second time in two weeks a big dog ran up and jumped on me recently while walking the main path. The path is icy and if someone is knocked over and injured the owner could face a lawsuit.”
“Thumbs up to the Litchfield Seniors that have re-entered the workforce, you are my heroes! With the US Debt at $15 Trillion and growing, real unemployment at 15%, and an uncertain future, we need the experience, skills, and wisdom that our Senior Citizens have developed over their lifetimes. To those that have returned to working world, be it church, schools, social services or business, thank you!!!!”
“Thumbs down to the person that indicated that
our Town Clerk is paid above average. Hudson has a combined Town Clerk/Tax Collector position combining two functions and therefore saving money. When compared to other area Town Clerk/Tax Collector’s, or even when compared to positions serving similar populations, the Hudson Town Clerk/Tax Collector averages $10k-$18k less in salary. Please exercise your right to vote and express your opinion, but when putting things in print, try to be more accurate. I will certainly support our Hudson Town Clerk/Tax Collector.”
“Thumbs down to the chorus teacher at Alvirne High School for accusing her students of stealing money. It’s just not right accusing the students of thievery and there isn’t any actual proof that any of them did it. That’s just unfair.”
“Thumbs down to parents who don’t supervise

throughout the town are over assessed to make up for this! Just playing with the numbers like a dishonest car salesman! Vote these lairs out!”
“Thumbs up or down Hudson? Well, here we 603-943-5840
go again voting time in Hudson and guess what the largest block of voters will show up to push their agenda on the rest of the voters who are out there working and get home tired, late and don’t get there to vote but issues pass. We are asked to raise money to build a senior center again but do we ever hear that they are out there helping those that are sick and home bound and don’t get out? We do hear about all the activities, trips, sight seeing but these serve a few of the many elderly. So Hudson voters, get out there and vote with minds not just the emotions of feeling bad for a group.”
their children and their access to the social media. Facebook is harmless, right? OMG! These preteens’ and teens’ minds are being poisoned. The private chats are enough to make your skin crawl. The language used is as bad as an X rated movie. When they’re in their rooms alone or with friends, they use Skype or ooVoo on their phones or computers to show their bodies to others. They keep their phones by their bedsides, and text in the wee hours of the morning, and then delete the messages. These kids will be having babies before they hit sixteen. Don’t be ignorant and check everything... it’s their futures (and ours) at stake!”
