Pavlo has his own line of high quality signature guitars and gives away one to an audience member during the show, usually through a ballot. "I’ve never had to change strings in all my years," he says. "I just change my guitar."
"Over the years I’ve been approached by guitar players young and old around the world. The guitars I’ve played in the past have been too expensive for most people so what I’ve done here is create a guitar that does not compromise integrity and quality for an aff ordable price. By taking out the middle men and purchasing thousands of guitars in advance I am able to bring this guitar to you," says Pavlo.
Lopez is "a wild card," says Pavlo, "You never know what’s going to come out of his mouth. Rik is the professor, and I’m just happy to be there."
Emmett has taught songwriti ng and the music business at Toronto's Humber College since 1999. But his resume goes back much farther.
He formed Triumph in 1975, a band that released 10 studio albums and four live albums with hit singles including "Follow Your Heart," "Hold On" and "Lay It On the Line." Outside of Triumph, Emmett has released 17 more live and studio albums.
Emmett says he always welcomes the chance to show off his versati lity. "People have this kind of knowledge of me," he says. "Some say, ‘Weren’t you the guy in the ‘80s who jumped around in spandex pants?’ Aft er decades in music, I’ve been a lot of things to a lot of people."
When it comes to his collaborators, Emmett says Pavlo
is "very pragmati c. Very pull-up- by-the-boostraps. I really get along with that type of person."
Lopez is "an undisciplined kind of character" who is full of passion, says Emmett , who recently recorded Recovery Room 9, available at rikemmett .com.
The PRO show will include plenty of songs from Trifecta, but there are also surprises including an outstanding Beatles medley. It’s a refl ecti on of their varied personaliti es, Emmett says.
"That’s the character of the trio we’ve developed."
