63 See you down the road……………. HELLO from jo In the last year, a major change has taken place in our corner of the world…
..The Tourism Bureau
(formerly southwestern) merged with an adjacent bureau, (southeastern) now covering 9000 square miles. Ex- tending from the Mississippi to the Wabash Rivers….it is appropriately named: The Tourism Bureau Illinois South! What‘s exciting about this are the benefits to the visitor! Combining “city chic with country charm” is simply a drive away……….Traveling through the eastern portion of southern Illinois are wide open plains devoid of commercialism that suddenly turn into winding roads with hills and valleys all making for a peaceful sojourn. There are beautiful parks and recreation areas, and unexpected attractions with unusual finds for the
shopper or antique collector. Opportunities abound for the hunter or angler as you enter an unhurried, quieter, simpler way of life. Conversely, for the more urban dweller, larger cities with hustle and bustle, every dining experience
imaginable, with top of the line lodging facilities, conference centers, and upscale shoppes are designed to please even the most savvy traveler. And…..even in these tough economic times, isn’t it lucky for us that we can drive just a short distance
and experience both…….I suppose there’s a lesson learned from the age-old story about the country mouse and the city mouse…that the coming together can be enjoyed by all!
